Creation of Extraneous Solutions (Radical Equation)
This applet is used to demonstrate the "creation" of an extraneous solution when squaring both sides to eliminate a radical. f(x) = g(x) is the original equation with one solution (intersection). h(x) = p(x) is the resulting equation after squaring both sides. Notice a new solution (intersection) has been created.
