Exploring Linear Functions

In this activity, you will explore the effects of slope and y-intercept on linear functions. If you have any questions, please ask your teacher. **Recall** Parallel lines never intersect. Perpendicular lines intersect at a 90 degree angle.
1. Explore the m and n sliders. Record observations of the changes in the two lines as you experiment with different slopes. 2. Describe the two lines when the slopes are the same. What do we call these types of lines? 3. Describe the relationship between the lines when the angle between the lines is 90 degrees. 4. Describe the relationship between the lines when the angle between the lines is 0 degrees. 5. What happens to the lines when we adjust the "b" slider values? In the y-intercept form of equations, what is the name of this value? 6. Click the Challenge Problem. Adjust the slope and y-intercepts of your lines to model the image displayed. Record your values.
