Finding the distance between two points

The top horizontal lines represent sliders that change the values of x and y on the B coordinate. This will allow you to find the distance at different points on the coordinate plane. Practice using the sliders to find different points.
1. Drag the sliders until the coordinates are located on the intersection points of the grid. Now using the "arrow" tool move point C so that the shape is a right triangle.

2. Record the coordinates of A and B. Calculate the distance using the Pythagorean theorem using the lengths of CB and AC. Check your answer by choosing the "show/hide answer" box.

3. Move points A, B and C again. Record the coordinates of A and B. Calculate the distance using the Pythagorean theorem using the lengths of CB and AC.. Check your answer by choosing the "show/hide answer" box.

4. Move points A, B and C again. Record the coordinates of A and B. Calculate the distance using the Pythagorean theorem using the lengths of CB and AC. Check your answer by choosing the "show/hide answer" box.
