Transformations Part 1

Use the applet below to perform the transformations and answer the questions below the Geogebra window.

The following questions apply to the trapezoid above, perform the transformation in the applet then answer the questions.

If the trapezoid were reflected over the x-axis what would be the coordinates of the point A'? Give your answer as a point (x,y).

If the trapezoid were reflected over the line y=x (shown in the applet), what would be the coordinates of the point D'? Give your answer in (x,y) form.

Complete the task in the Geogebra window below.

Given the quadrilateral and a line, reflect the filled image over the line so that it matches the outline shown. (you can move the points on the line to change the position of the line, you will have to perform the reflection yourself.

Use the following applet to answer the questions below.

Answer the following questions using the applet above, you can perform the transformations specified in the applet above.

The image above shows five dancers on a stage. If dancer A moved along vector v, what would the final position of dancer A be? Give your answer as a point (x,y).

The image above shows five dancers on a stage. If dancer C moved along vector u, what would the final position of dancer C be? Give your answer as a point (x,y).

Complete the following task in the Geogebra window.

Given the polygon and a vector, translate the polygon along the vector so that the filled in shape matches the outline of the polygon exactly. (You can move the red point at the end of the vector to change your translation vector. You will have to perform the translation yourself)

Use the applet to perform the transformations from the questions below.

Answer the following questions using the applet above to perform the transformations.

If triangle ABC were rotated about the origin 180 degrees counter clockwise what would the coordinates of A' be in the image created? Give your answer as a point (x,y).

If the triangle ABC were rotated about the origin 90 degrees clockwise, what would the coordinates of B' be in the image created? Give your answer as a point (x,y).

Perform the following task in the Geogebra window

Rotate the figure about the given point so that the filled in shape matches the outline of the other shape exactly. You will probably have to try several different rotations of various angles, If the rotation you attempted does not work, hit undo or reset and try again until you are correct. Another option is to create an angle slider and use the variable from your angle slider as the amount to rotate by.
