'Monkey drop' in 3 frames of reference
- Judah L Schwartz
'Monkey drop" is classic demonstration in an introductory physics lecture - a pellet gun is aimed at a stuffed monkey doll which is held at a height above the lab table. The monkey is released and allowed to drop and at the same instant the pellet gun is fired. With this applet you can explore how the situation appears in the frames of reference of the table, the monkey and the pellet. What questions would you ask your students to explore with this applet?
