# PieceWise Functions -Looking at intervals on x^2

Topic:
Functions
1) On the tool bar, find the Function Inspector under the 3rd button from the right. 2) Click on the Function Inspector and then click on the graph of the function.(You can move this over to the side.) 3) Use the interval selection at the bottom of the Function Inspector to identify different pieces of the function, depending on a given interval. 4) Notice the piece that is shown in red. It represents f(x) = x^2, if x is greater than or equal to -2 and less than or equal to 2. 5) What if the value of f(-2)? What point is on the graph? 6) What is the value of f(2)? What point is on the graph? These are the endpoints for this piece of the function.
5) Find the piece of the function graph on the interval (-1, 3). After changing each value, hit enter. What is the equation of the piece in red now? What are the endpoints for this piece? 6) Find the piece of the function graph on the interval (-3, 2). What is the equation of the piece of the function in red now? What are the endpoints for this piece?
