Mr. Weinberg's Poorly Planned Flying Robot Adventure

This is a Geogebra animation simulating the location of the flying robot as described in the video. The intended outcome of the test was for the robot to land on one of the highlighted apartment buildings (yellow region). The robot transmitted its GPS location to Mr. Weinberg's computer in the classroom while the communication link was working. The robot lost communications with the computer at approximately 5.8 seconds, so no more position data is available.
  • Determine if the path of the robot reaches the target. Use as much evidence as possible to support your answer.
  • Assuming the robot's path does bring it to the apartment buildings, determine the time (in seconds) when it would have reached the landing site on top of the building.
  • Estimate the speed of the robot during the flight based on available information.
