Locating the Well
This task developed for middle school students’ (13-14 years) in Surabaya with various mathematics ability who will work in pair. The participants also have already learnt the topic of plane figures and special lines in Triangle based on Indonesian Curriculum (grade 8). The data collection use screen recorder and sound recorder to capture the students’ activities in collaboration problem solving.
Direction:
1. Before you begin, ensure your Screen Recorder is active and your Microphone is on. Every step you take on the screen and every word you speak must be captured clearly. Do not stop the recording until the task is completely finished.
2. You must think out loud. Explain your ideas, questions, and even your confusion to your partner. Communicate constantly: ask your partner why they chose a certain line or suggest alternative methods using your knowledge.
3. Discuss your strategy before you start drawing or calculating.
4. Use the provided software to solve the problem, ensuring every action is discussed first.
5. Double-check your solution against geometric properties to ensure it fully answers the challenge.
