Pythagorean Theorem Proof Without Words

This applet demonstrates one proof of the Pythagorean Theorem by transforming a shape with a given area into another shape of the same area.  Definition: The region between two concentric circles of different radii is called an annulus. In the demonstration below, the blue disk is transformed into the blue annulus, preserving the area.
