Reflect 2D shapes

1. The letter E

Move the points to draw the reflection of the letter E over the line. When done or if you would like help click 'show reflection'.

2. A quadrilateral

A quadrilateral is the name of any polygon that has four sides. Read about quadrilaterals in general here and find out the name of this quadrilateral. Reflect the quadrilateral over the mirror line. When done or if you would like help click 'show reflection'.

What is the name of the type of quadrilateral above?

3. A parallelogram

A parallelogram is a quadrilateral that has two sets of parallel sides. To draw diagonal lines it is helpful to count squares across and squares up from the start to the finish of the line.

Rearrange the points to make a reflection of the parallelogram over the line of symmetry. Make sure that the diagonal lines are reflected by counting the boxes.

4. The letter T

Rearrange the points to make a reflection of the letter T over the line of symmetry. What do you notice?

5. A Triangle

Rearrange the points to make a reflection of the triangle over the line of symmetry. Make sure that the diagonal lines are reflected by counting the 'across' and the 'up' boxes. (Also known as the 'run' and the 'rise').

6. Left and Right Hands

Rearrange the points to draw the right hand as a reflection of the left hand.

7. Reflect your own polygon

Use the polygon tool to draw a polygon on the left or the right of the line. Use the 'reflect' tool. Click first your polygon then the line. Experiment with several polygons, changing the direction of the line, drawing your polygon over the line.

8. Another blank page

For another idea.
