Simpson and Trapezoidal Rules Comparison

Simpson rule is a second degree Newton-Coates formula which approximates the function piecewise by parabolas passing through three consecutive points in a partition created by the division points. Consequently, the number of subdivisions of interval [a,b] must be even. Formula for Simpson rule is given by , where . This GeoGebra applet builds an excellent GeoGebra applet on Simpson Rule Animation by GeoGebra Team. The author of this applet gratefully acknowledges and thanks the GeoGebra Team.
