CarpetArea

3.MD.C.7 d. - Recognize area as additive. Find areas of rectilinear figures by decomposing them into non-overlapping rectangles and adding the areas of the non-overlapping parts, applying this technique to solve real world problems. You just moved into a new home and everything is great except for the ugly carpet throughout the whole house. You want to install new carpet, but your house is not a perfect square to get a perfect area. You must divide your house into rectangular parts and find the area of each rectangle made. These separate areas must then be added to find the total area of carpet you will need to fit your new home.
