This applet can be used to explore hyperbolic functions cosh and sinh and visualize their connection with a hyperbola (rectangular in this case). Check an appropriate box and play animation. Unchecking an active check box will reset the screen without trace.
Do Internet search or read a suitable book to learn definition of hyperbolic functions. Explore similarity between identities for hyperbolic functions and trigonometric functions. Trigonometric functions can be generated using a curve (for example hyperbolic functions are shown to be generated by a hyperbola). What is that curve called?
