Transformation: Translation

Essential Question: What are translations and how do I perform one?

Reflect Triangle EFG over y =2 and then y = -1.

What do you notice about the original figure compared to the last image?

Reflect quadrilateral LMNO over x = -1 and x = 2.

What do you notice about the original figure compared to the last image?

What other transformation can explain this movement?

Now let's try to describe these translations. For each of the following, write the change in x nd y that each shape moved.
Vector Notation is used to describe how the x and y components of points translated change from pre-image to image of the translation. The descriptions you took part in above are the general idea describing how vector notation works. Vector notation will always take on a few attributes as a part of the form. (x, y) (x + ___, y + ___ ) The blanks are where you would input how much each point on the pre-image is changed by translation.
