Osculating Circles and Curvature

Just as we fit tangent lines to curves by matching the value and the first derivative, we fit tangent (osculating) circles by matching the value, the first derivative and the second derivative. For travel on the curve, velocity points along the tangent while acceleration points to the center of the tangent circle.
