Chebyshev symmetric four-bar linkage: synthesis
This applet provides all the computations required for the synthesis of a Chebyshev's four-bar straight-line path generator. The optimal criterion is the well known min-max criterion proposed by Chebyshev in 1878 when trying to improve the accuracy of a Watt four-bar linkage.
The user can obtain several solutions by changing the values of theta1 and theta2 by means of the sliders. Drag point M to see how the coupler point traces its trajectory.
