In a semicircular arch a semicircle with center the midpoint of AB defines the arch. In a dome it creates a hemisphere.
Now drag the green point downwards. The shape of the arch still is circular but it's no longer a hemiscircle. The more downwards you drag the point, the lower becomes the arch.
