Where's my point?

Author:
tzunfung
Drag the point A to different locations and note the 'quadrant' it ends up in. How many quadrants can you identify? Drag the point A to the intersection of the horizontal and vertical lines. Note what you observe. Can you define the term 'Origin" now in a given Cartesian plane? Do you see any pattern of the two numbers (within the bracket) about the point A in different quadrants? Do you see how the location of point A is related to the pair of numbers in this given x-y plane? Discuss the use of an "ordered pair" in a Cartesian plane (also called an x-y coordinate plane) in telling the position of a point. Illustrate why the order of the two numbers is important?
