Conic sections defined by eccentricity
You can experiment with conic sections defined in terms of directrix and eccentricity.
If the eccentricity is less than 1 then the resulting curve is an ellipse.
If the eccentricity equals 1 then the resulting curve is a parabola.
If the eccentricity is greater than 1 then the resulting curve is a hyperbola.
