Translation Exploration Activity

The coordinates of the preimage (Triangle ABC) are blue. The coordinates of the image (Triangle A'B'C') are pink. Grab any preimage point and move it around the graph. Notice the arrows all go in the same direction, which match the vector shown at the origin. What do you notice about the difference between the coordinates of the preimage and the image. As you change the vector, what happens to the image? What happens when you move the vector to the other quadrants? Can you define a rule for a translation in terms of the vector? (x,y) --> ( x + ___, y + ____) ?
