This website visualizes the time-domain signal of an RC circuit when sending a step function through it. Therefore you can choose whether to see the charging or discharging of the capacitor.

The maximum current only depends on the maximum voltage and the Resistance . It does not depend on the capacity .
The time constant marks the time when the capacitor will be charged to about 63.2% of its final value respectively when it will be discharged to about 36.8% .
