4.6 ASA Congruent Triangles
Directions
- Create a segment of given length of 6, and label the endpoints A and B
- Use the "Angle with Given Size" tool to click on B, then A. Then enter 40 degrees and click "counterclockwise".
- This should construct point B'. Construct ray AB'.
- Use the "Angle with Given Size" tool to click on A, then B. Then enter 60 degrees and click "clockwise".
- This should construct point A'. Construct ray BA'.
- Create and label point C, the point of intersection of the two rays.
- Measure the remaining angles and sides of triangle ABC.
- Now create a new segment of given length of 6.
- Repeat steps 2 - 5 except do the 60 degree angle first, then the 40 degree angle.
- Create and label point F, the point of intersection of the two rays.
- Measure the remaining angles and sides of triangle CDE.
- Answer the questions below.
Question 1
Are the two triangles congruent, yes or no?
Question 2
Write a congruency statement for the two triangles.
