This applet allows you to explore definition of the definite integral as the limit of a Riemann sum.
Use the sliders in the model to compute a Left, Right, or Midpoint Riemann sum and adjust the number of partitions you wish to have in your approximation. Notice the effect of increasing partition # on the vale of the Riemann sum, and where on the function the Riemann sum is an under- or over-estimate of the true function.
