Offset of an astroid and safety zone
The union of the red, black and red arcs is the envelope of circles with radius 1/2 centered on an astroid. If the circles represent a mobile device, then we can use this applet to determine a safety zone around the mobile device.
This applet enables also to explore the offset at distance 1/2 of the astroid.
