Order of Operations

PE MD AS or PE DM SA or GEMA or PEMA what ever you call it, the order of operations is crutial to the study of arithmetic (mathematics). GEMA/PEMA come from the concept that Division is a form of Multiplication using reciprocals, and Subtraction is the addition of the opposite number.
Here’s what the initials stand for:
P: do parentheses first
E: do exponents second
M: do multiplication third
D: do division fourth
A: do addition fifth
S: do subtraction sixth
But this list has an error! MD must be done equally from left to right as is true for AS.
