Volume of a Dam

Image

How to calculate the volume

Most dams are curved which complicates calculating their volume. Exercise Let us assume that this dam is made of rubber so we can deform it into straight dam. Click on point A and use the arrow keys to move A in order to shape a straight dam. Once you have managed to move A to position (46|16) you will see a number of cuboids. Vary the number of cuboids and watch the approximation of the volume.
