Parent Function Transformations
- Willie Lewis, Tim Brzezinski
This applet accompanies the Transformations of Functions packet you received at the beginning of class.
f(x) = a(b(x-h))2+k or y = a(b(x-h))3 +k or g(x) = a(b|x-h|)+k Note: It doesn't matter which parent function, transformations are the same! a - vertical stretch (|a|>1) or compress (0<|a|<1) a=1 is the default b - horizontal stretch (0<|b|<1) or compress (|b|>1) b=1 is the default h - horizontal shift either right or left h=0 is the default k - vertical shift either up or down k=0 is the default
