Amiran hotel - gp

The Amiran hotel 49 Khakikat Street, has got facade with an historical iwan-like look. The spandrel above the entrance has got a pattern with 10- and 5-pointed stars, a nice finger exercise before starting the real historical work.
Image
It's a pattern from the fivefold system, containing decagons, pentagons and a hexagonal barrel (cfr Bonner Fig 227 A en B). The pattern creates dark colored 10- and 5-ppointed stars that attract the attention. Amidst of them are lighter, irregular hexagons and dark dodecagons seemingly two pentagons melted together.
In next applet you can follow the construction of the patters. Even without perspective correction you can clearly see that the hexagons between the stars are irregular.
