Geometry
In his hometown Shakhrisabz Timur built the Ak Saray palace (1379-1396) surpassing all know measures and greatness. Today only parts of the entrance remain, 22 m high and once 50 m high. Interessanting are the different patterns with kufic calligraphy. On the inside of the gate, just below where once the arc started, you can see a pattern of squares alternatively showing the names Allah and Mohammed. In dark blue the squares are separated by the name of Ali, for sunites the 4e caliph, for sjiits the first of the 12 Imams.
